2009 MBI Champs Survive Wind, Rain and Family Rivalry

The 2009 Morson Bass International fishing tournament has come to a close. The weekend saw plenty of food, music and fun but even more rain, thunder and lightning. The worst weather conditions ever for the tournament. Anglers and volunteers helping with the weigh-ins were wet both days. A big hand should be given to both anglers and volunteers for participating and helping make the tournament successful.

The 2009 Championship went to son and father team of Bill Godin from Devlin and Almer Godin from Rainy River with at total two day weight of 31.84 lbs. This duo have not fished this tournament together but both stated it was a good experience and even better that they were able to pull off the top spot. In second place is last year's winners Terry Gill from Morson and Chad Hanson from Fort Frances with a total weight of 31.02 lbs. Terry and Chad had a big second day weight of 16.45 lbs but it wasn't enough to push the Godin's out of first place from their Day 1 biggest bag at 17.23 lbs.
